Okay, don’t get me wrong. You should always create quality content and products; your audience deserves that much. However, have you ever noticed that wanting to produce the perfect content and products causes you to become stagnant? I have seen this in the brands I work with when they’re starting. I even notice this in myself. For some reason, we jeopardize consistency for perfection.

Shouldn’t I put out Perfection?

As I said before, you should prioritize quality over all else. Quality ensures that the product you sell can perform and complete tasks without malfunctioning. It’s making sure that your website is easy to navigate or that your video has a good picture and sound. After you have ensured the foundational aspects of your platform and products, you can add unique details to your brand. Anything else is secondary.

And I’m sure you know the famous Simpsons picture about progress versus perfection. If not, then here it is.

The picture shows that if you’re providing true quality, your audience will gravitate to your platform no matter how it looks.

If a detail doesn’t impact the quality or is not your brand’s signature, it’s secondary. Outside factors, like money and resources, will affect getting things perfect. If you feel like you should add something, then here are things you can do:

Instead of hiring a professional, learn to do it yourself.
Instead of throwing in expensive mementos, throw in stickers or card stock with your logo.
If you do not settle for anything other than the best, omit those details until you can get it.

My point is, don’t let perfection lead to procrastination and eventually halt all progress.

Conclusion

In conclusion, don’t let your need to be perfect the first time be why you don’t take the necessary first step(s). Throughout your journey, you will learn so much about your platform and audience that what was perfect for you now won’t be perfect when you’re established.
